ADULT BEGINNING PIANO CLASS
(Adults only) – This class is for adults who would like to learn to play the piano using the Alfred All in One Adult Piano Course, Book 1. It includes learning to play the keyboard and theory lessons and is intended for adult learners. Once the class begins, each individual student will be able to play through the book at their own pace. The instructor will offer instruction as needed to improve or correct or teach new concepts as the student progresses. Instructor: Elizabeth Taylor
Class Schedule: Begins Thursday, September 7th, 7:00-8:00 PM, occurs weekly for 14 weeks – ends December 21st.
Class Size: Minimum of 4 students, maximum of 8
Class Materials: Participants must bring an electric keyboard (with cord or batteries), the method book (indicated in the description), and a set of headphones to use after the first couple of classes.

MUSIC THEORY CLASS
(Ages 9-13) – This class is designed to introduce the language of music to students new to notation, and to review and reinforce musical concepts with students who are already learning to read music. At the end of the semester, each student should be able to name both treble and bass clef notes on the staff, identify note values (up to eighth notes) and count/clap simple rhythms. Students will also be able to label a diagram of symbols on a line of notation, demonstrating their knowledge of the basic symbols and words used. Instructor: Mary Fuller

Class Materials: A music theory notebook will be provided the first day of class (included in the registration fee)

SMALL GROUP ENSEMBLE
(For late beginner through early intermediate level students that play any woodwind, brass or string instruments) – This group provides an opportunity for students to play with other instruments using 4-part arrangements that are interchangeable with various instruments. Students will practice rhythms, intonation, and sight reading, and learn basic theory concepts in a small ensemble setting. Instructors: Elizabeth Taylor and Mary Fuller
Class Schedule: Begins Wednesday, September 6th, 4:30-5:30 PM, occurs every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month – ends December 20th.

Class Materials: Several books with 4-part arrangements will be provided use during the sessions, to be returned to Carolina School of Music at the last meeting time.

Jazz Band Class
Open to drums, guitar, bass guitar, alto, tenor, and bari sax, clarinet, flute, trumpet and trombone. Must play at an intermediate level or above and all student-age musicians must audition for placement.
28 weeks (September 11 – May 8) Fee is the cost of any music purchased for the year (Average price range = $7.00-20.00)
Classes meet Mondays, 7:30-8:30 PM, 2 performances minimum
